Sid Vicious, bassist of the Sex Pistols, was charged with the murder of his girlfriend Nancy Spungen in October 1978, who was found stabbed to death in their hotel room at the Chelsea Hotel in New York. Vicious died of a heroin overdose in February 1979 before the case went to trial. The case was never resolved in court.
